Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-93), Russia's composer. Brother M. I. Tchaikovsky. Thin psychologist, master symphonic, musical playwright. Tchaikovsky opened in the music man's inner world (from the lyrical intimacy to the deepest tragedy), created the highest examples of operas, ballets, symphonies, chamber works. Opera: 'Eugene Onegin' (1878, lyric opera a new type of opera), 'Mazeppa' (1883), 'Slippers' (1885), 'Enchantress' (1887), 'The Queen of Spades' (1890), 'Iolanthe' (1891 ) etc.. An innovator in the field of ballet (music by leading component of the ballet drama), 'Swan Lake' (1876), 'Sleeping Beauty' (1889), 'The Nutcracker' (1892).
