Biography Lagerlö²f Selma Ottilia Lovis (LAGERLEF Selma Ottiliana Lovisa)
(1858-1940) Born November 20, 1858 in the province of Vöºrmland. In 1888 came to Stockholm to get the teaching profession. After completion of education has a place in school Landskrona in southern Sweden. In Stockholm, she appeared intent to write a book based on fairy tales and legends native province. The book is called Saga Berlings Yeste (Gsta Berlings saga, 1891). Unique originality and richness of imagination brought the young writer glories, and she decided to devote himself to creative. Her artistic talent is even more stronger in the two collections of short stories, invisible chains (Osynliga lnkar, 1894) and Queen in Kungahella (Drottningar i Kungahlla, 1899). The peak of creativity Lagerlö²f became the novel Jerusalem (Jerusalem, v. 1-2, 1901-1902) - about a group of Swedish peasants who emigrated to Palestine. In 1909 Selma Lagerlö²f was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, in 1914 was elected a member of the Swedish Academy. Lagerlö²f died on his farm in Vöºrmland Morbakka March 16, 1940.
