Biography Scudö?ry Madeleine de (Scudry Madeleine de)
(1607-1701) Born in 1607 in Le Havre. In 1629 his brother George moved to Paris, where they both devoted themselves to writing and literary salon-life. Madeleine de Scudö?ry owned gallant multivolume novels, the heroes of which readers can easily learn of his famous contemporaries. The most famous of these works - Artamen, or the Great Cyrus (Artamne ou le Grand Cyrus, 1649-1653) and Clelia (Cllie, 1654-1660). In Clelia, among other things, was placed 'Map of the country tenderness' - an allegorical route foul kingdom of love. Scudö?ry died in Paris on June 2, 1701.
