Biography Aldous Huxley (Huxley Aldous)
(1894-1963)
Born July 26, 1894 in Godalming (Surrey). Grandson of naturalist Thomas H. Huxley (Huxley), great-nephew of M. Arnold and brother biologist Dzh.Haksli. He studied at Eton College and Balliol College, Oxford University. Because of poor eyesight almost no part in the First World War. In 1919 became a member of the London club 'Athenaeum' for some time was a theater critic in the 'Westminster Gazette' ( 'West-minster Gazette'); by 1921 had left journalism and took up literary work. In April 1937 he moved permanently to the United States and settled in California. Soon carried away mysticism, an interest which has become increasingly manifested in his writings.
In his works, Huxley tried a variety of literary forms, in t.ch. critical essay (Ethical Research - Proper Studies, 1927), satire (Brave New World - Brave New World, 1932), an intellectual novel (Counterpoint - Point Counter Point, 1928). Huxley's novels in an exaggerated dark tones represent the destructive tendencies of modern life in a satirical novel Brave New World and After Many Springs ... (After Many a Summer Dies the Swan, 1939), these trends appear in a very distorted or befuddling form, mocked the cult of the car and body.
