He graduated from high school, a special military school. Participated in the Crimean War of 1853-56 he. Scientific activities to. was devoted to study and improve the technological process of production of steel shells. Major works to. the structure of steel ingots, to the strength of gun and rifle barrels. Together with A.S. Lavrov discover and explain phase separation in steel.
