Bazhan Mikola (Nikolai Rakhmanov) (9/10/1904, Kamenetz-Podolsky - 1983), poet, academician AN the USSR (1951), Hero of Socialist Labor (1974), twice winner of the Stalin Prize (1946, 1949). He studied at the Kiev Institute of Foreign Affairs. His first poems written in 1920. In 1926 his first book "Seventeenth patrol" - the heroic spirit of the Civil War. Then the main theme of his work was the glorification of socialist construction and the struggle against "bourgeois nationalism". Singer Stalinist five year plans (for example, the poem "Number", 1931). Repeatedly presented with poems, which contained a frank flattery of Stalin, among these the most famous "A friend is in zvezdonosnom the Kremlin" (1932), the poem "The Cry of the leader" (1939). Figured prominently in the writers' circles of Ukraine, and after the mass purges of the Ukrainian intelligentsia in the environment has become a leading poet of the republic. During the Great Patriotic War, edited a newspaper, "For the Soviet Ukraine". In 1943-49 Deputy. prev. SNK (Council of Ministers) USSR. In 1946 - 62 Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. After the death of I.V. Stalin removed from public office and in 1954 received the honorary secretary of the Union of Writers of Ukraine.
