Biography Tolstaya Tatiana Nikitichna
Tolstaya Tatyana Nikitichna (born 1951)is a writer.
She was born and raised in Leningrad in a large family of a professor of physics, the son of the famous Russian writer Alexei Tolstoy.
She studied in the faculty of Classical Philology of Leningrad University.
She was married to a Muscovite, moved to Moscow and worked as a proofreader. Her first story "On Golden Porch sitting ..." was published in the journal "Aurora" in 1983. Since that time she published 19 short stories.
Tolstaya was referred to as a "new wave" in literature. Her name was one of the brightest names of "artistic prose".
She said about herself: "I'm interested in marginalized people", ie. those who are, as a rule, deaf, whom we perceive as stupid, unable to hear their speeches, unable to see others' pain.
Nowadays, Tatyana Tolstaya lives and works in Princeton (USA), teaches Russian literature at universities.
