Biography Erich Knauf (Knauf)
Knauf, Erich (Knauf), (1895-1944), German journalist, publicist. Born February 21, 1895 in Saxony in the working family. Participant 1 WWI. Then engaged in journalism. After the Nazis came to power Knauf was expelled from the Imperial Press Association for a series of critical articles in the address of National Socialism. Two and a half months spent in concentration camps, Oranienburg and Lichtenburg. In 1944, Joseph Goebbels publicly called "little rat", as Himmler's executioner, "gives a daily basis from 80 to 100 orders for executions, Knauf was arrested again and sentenced by the People's Tribunal, executed May 2, 1944.
