Zhukov thinks that Russia deserved right to hold Olympic Games
The chairman of Application committee "Sochi -2014", the vice- premier Aleksandr Zhukov thinks that Russia deserved the right to hold the Olympic Games. About this he stated on Friday in Torino during the press conference of Application committee "Sochi -2014".
Zhukov resembled, that Russia celebrates the 50th anniversary of its first participation in the Olympic Games this year. "The first Soviet athletes went to the start of winter Olympiad in Cortina d`Ampezzo in 1956 and within the fifty year period they won more than 270 medals" he said.
Zhukov made an accent on that the Olympians of the Soviet Union and Russia conquered more than all gold medals in the history of winter games, but in spite of this, the country never obtained the right to hold winter Olympiad.
In the opinion of Zhukov, the support of the government of Russia of the project "Sochi -2014" seriously differed from the support of the application "Moscow -2012". "We have a plan to the development of Sochi into one of the quite prestige health resorts of the world because of the constructions, which can be used the year round, - he described. - As for Moscow -2012, there was no such global approach, because practically all sport arenas and necessary infrastructure are in the presence".
