Zisman, Joseph

1914, Kiev. He studied at art school. In 1934-37 he studied at the Moscow Institute for Advanced Studies of Artists. In 1933-34 he worked in the Far East, a teacher of drawing and sketching at school and college. From 1937 to 1953 (with interruptions) served in the Soviet Army. Participated in the Great Patriotic War. Member of USSR Union of Artists since 1947. Participant of numerous exhibitions since 1945, in Leningrad in 1962, 1965, 1971 and 1983 were held solo exhibitions of the artist. Author landscapes, portraits, still lifes, genre scenes. Zisman painting style is characterized by a certain looseness, temperamental, complex color harmony and lyrical mood. Products are in RM and Collections of Modern Art Manege, St. Petersburg.
