Biography Zhukovsky, Nikolay E.
Born in 1847, Mr.. He was educated in the 5-th Moscow gymnasium and later received his higher education at Moscow University. He graduated from the course in 1868. the degree of candidate of mathematical category, entered the Imperial Technical School, which was sent abroad. In 1876, Mr.. Zhukovsky defended master's degree in applied mathematics dissertation "Kinematics of fluid body", published in the VIII t. "Matematicheskii Sbornik", published by the Moscow Mathematical Society. Even now, this first work of its vastness, completeness and independence is a valuable contribution to the hydrodynamics. Then Zhukovsky wrote several articles on the various divisions of mechanics. In late 1879. at the VI congress of scientists in St. Petersburg, Zhukovsky said the results of his study "On the strength of the movement, and in 1882, Mr.. scientists published in the Notes of the Moscow University of interest complete treatise on the strength of the movement, this essay he defended in the same year as the dissertation for a doctorate in applied mathematics. Before 1886. Zhukovsky was a professor at the Imperial Technical School, and only in this (1886) was approved by a university professor. From the works of Zhukovsky call the following: "The Kinematics of fluid body", "The case of motion of the liquid area of inertia" ( "Mathematical Sbornik" t. VIII); "Sur la percussion des corps" and "Sur un cas particulier de mouvement d'un point materiel" (in Liouville's Journal, 3 Serie, t. IV); "On the greatest impact," "Relationship between questions on the motion of material point and the equilibrium of a flexible string (" Matematicheskii Sbornik ", t. IX, 1879); "Sur une demonstration nouvelle du theoreme de Lambert" ( "Notes of the Moscow Society of Naturalists, 1884)," Derivation of basic formulas of elasticity theory "(" Mathematical Sbornik ", t. XI); "On impact of rigid bodies" (two articles in the Journal of Russian Physico-Chemical Society, . 1884, . XVI and 1885, . XVII); "On the motion of a rigid body, . having cavities, . filled with a homogeneous liquid drops "(" Russian Journal of Physical and Chemical Society, . 1885, . t, . XVII); "On the reaction of flowing and flowing fluid" (2 article, "Matematicheskii Sbornik", t. To this must still attach lectures on hydrodynamics, printed in the "University Izvestia for 1886, and works of biographical. As seen from this list, . work of Professor Zhukovsky quite numerous and very varied, and he took an active part in the development of all issues of mechanics, . arisen in the past 15 years, especially the remarkable work on fluid mechanics, . The writing is on motion of a rigid body having a cavity filled with a homogeneous liquid drops "crowned Prize Professor Brashman. "Modification of the Kirchhoff method" has a special significance - it solved a great many questions about the pressure of the flowing liquid on the walls of various types.
