Biography Kotlyarevsky Ivan Petrovich
(1769 - 1838).
He graduated from the course in the Poltava Theological Seminary. Was a teacher in the homes of landowners, he served in the military service and participated in the battles against the Turks. Since 1808 Kotlyarevsky lived in Poltava, in the position of supervisor in the institute of "educating children of poor nobles". Kotlyarevsky considered the father of the new Little Russian literature. His main work: "Virgil's Aeneid, perelitsovannaya on п?пЎп?я? Little Russian" - a classic in its simplicity and elegance of style and irony Ukrainian. The first three songs "Aeneid" was published in 1798. A complete and accurate edition of the "Aeneid" Kotlyarevskogo without changes in the language, made Volohinovym in Kharkov, in 1842. The most popular edition Kulish (1862) represents the major revisions of the text. When writing his "Aeneid" Kotlyarevsky had in mind which appeared in 1791, Russian rework Osipova, and the latter, in turn, imitated the German writer Blyumayeru. Even before "Aeneid" of Virgil underwent satirical alteration in Italy ( "Eneide travestita", Lally, 1633) and France ( "Virgile travesti en vers burlesques", Scarron). Kotlyarevsky imitated Osipov in the choice of verse and in the depiction of drunkenness. Autonomy Kotlyarevskogo found in the language and many original episodes, written with great talent. In 1819 Kotlyarevsky wrote two operettas: "Natalka-Poltavka" and "Moskal Charivnik, so far at the forefront of malorossiyskom repertoire.
