Many studied abroad: in Paris (where, among other things, he studied Roman law), then in Spain (in particular, in Toledo), where he met with Arab science. Returning to England, D.M. at the request of John, Bishop of Norwich (1175 - 1200), wrote a treatise on astronomy / astrology, entitled "Philosophia". D.M. in defense of science "infidels" of the Arabs. Borrowed from the writings of Arab tripartite theory of the universe: the first the universe exists only in God's mind, it is invisible and incorporeal, the second universe - a fictional universe, and which is visible and corporeal, and therefore not eternal. Third universe - imitative, is a microcosm that has ever been created, it is visible and bodies, but also partly involved in the eternity. D.M. actively defended astrology, defended the usefulness of predicting the future. He regarded astrology as a very broad concept, including in and alchemy, and medicine, and science of mirrors and magic.
