Biography Brown-SEKAR Charles-Edouard (Brown-Squard Charles-duard)
(1817-1894) Born April 8, 1817 in Port Louis in Mauritius. He graduated from the University of Paris, in 1846 received a medical degree. In 1860-1863 he worked at London's National Hospital, . in 1864-1867 he lectured in physiology at Harvard University in the U.S., . in 1868-1872 was a professor of experimental and comparative pathology, University of Paris, . in 1878-1894 - Professor of Physiology at the College de France, . In the name of Brown-Sekara identified a number of phenomena associated with the pathology of the nervous system. The scientist also studied the function of the adrenal glands and the aging process
. Brown-Sekar founded in Paris 'Journal of Human and Animal Physiology' ( 'Journal de la Physiologie de l'homme et des animaux', 1858-1863) and the 'Archives of normal and pathological physiology' ( 'Archives de Physiologie normale et pathologique', 1868-1894) . In addition, in New York in 1873 founded the journal 'Archives of scientific and practical medicine' ( 'Archives of Scientific and Practical Medicine'). In 1887 became president of the Biological Society. Brown-Sekar died in Paris on 1 April 1894.
