Biography Rupert Brooke (Brooke Rupert)
(1887-1915) Born August 3 in Rugby (Warwickshire County), his father was director of Rugby-School. In 1901, Brooke became a student of this school, and soon succeeded in sports, school and poetry. Having entered the University of Cambridge in 1906 and in 1909 graduated with his degree and three years spent in those places, doing science and creativity, and from time to time visiting Europe. In late 1911 release of his poems (Poems), and in 1913 he undertook a journey to the Pacific islands of Tahiti and spent three happy months. He returned in June 1914, with the beginning of the war was made an officer of the Admiralty Winston Churchill, took part in the Antwerp expedition then sailed for the Dardanelles. On the Greek island of Skyros Brook contracted tetanus and died April 23, 1915. The second volume of his poems was released posthumously. Brooke was killed, still finding your voice and style, although it was the author of the strengths of mature poems, such as the famous sonnet Soldat (The Soldier).
