Biography Franz Grillparzer (Grillparzer Franz)
(1791-1872) Born January 15, 1791 in Vienna. In 1813 he entered the civil service and in 1832 became director of the imperial archives, in 1856, retired at the rank of Court Counselor. Grillparzer seriously studied history, philosophy and literature of many countries - both ancient and modern, and this is reflected not only in his numerous critical essays, but in AMD. He wrote many lyrical verses, in particular the cycle Elegies of Pontus (Tristia ex Ponto, 1835), and two great novels - Sandomirsky Monastery (Das Kloster bei Sendomir, 1828) and a poor musician (Der arme Spielmann, 1847).
