Edouard Daladier (Daladier Edouard)

(1884-1970)
Born June 18, 1884 in Carpentras (dep. Vaucluse). He taught history, was elected to the Chamber of Deputies of the Radical Party. He held various ministerial posts. In 1933 (January - October) and 1934 (January - February) - Prime Minister. In 1936-1937 - Minister of National Defense, and then a third time as Prime Minister (April 1938 - March 1940). Daladier had a reputation for energetic and uncompromising, and was nicknamed Voklyuzskim bull. In September 1938 signed the Munich agreement with N. Chamberlain, B. A. Hitler and Mussolini. In 1939 - June 1940 Daladier - Minister of Foreign Affairs, in September 1940 was arrested by the Vichy authorities in 1942 convicted by a military court. He was imprisoned first in France and then in Germany. In 1945 Daladier was liberated by the Allies in 1946 was elected to the Legislature, and then to his successor, the National Assembly. Abandon political activity in 1958. Died Daladier in Paris on October 10, 1970.
