Biography Reshid Mustafa Pasha (Mustafa Reshid Pasha)
(1800-1858) Mustafa Reshid five times served as Prime Minister under Sultan Abdul-Majid I (reigned in 1839-1861) and contributed greatly to the development of the Ottoman Empire. He was ambassador to France (1834-1836) and England (1836-1837), served as Minister of Foreign Affairs (1837-1838). It was under his influence, the Sultan Abdul-Majid announced in Gyulhane famous huts and Humayun (Sultan's decree), which initiated the reforms tanzimat. In subsequent years, Mustafa Reshid served as Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to various European capitals, as well as president of numerous boards of reform tanzimat.
