Reinhold Niebuhr (Niebuhr Reinhold)

(1892-1971)
Born June 21, 1892 in Wright City (pc. Missouri) in the family of a Protestant pastor. Educated in Elmherstskom College (pc. Illinois), Idenskoy Theological Seminary (St. Louis, pc. Missouri) and Yale University. Being a pastor in the church of the Evangelical Synod of North America, he served in the Betelskoy Evangelical Church in Detroit (pc. Michigan) until 1928, when he became a professor of Christian ethics and philosophy of religion at New York's United Theological Seminary. From 1956 until his retirement in 1960 was Vice President of the Seminary

Thus he confuses their partial ability to go beyond its limits (transcend themselves) with the ability to prove their power over the world and yourself. God reveals himself in Jesus Christ to celebrate the sacrificial love that overcomes the human temptation to self-deification
