Born October 10, 1900 in Washington, DC. Education in Catholic school. Her debut on stage took place at the age of 6 years with the company 'Columbia pleyerz' in Washington. In 1917, Hayes took the lead role in the play Polianna, then Penrode (1918) and play Dzh.Barri Dear Brutus (1918), she created an enviable reputation on Broadway. She played in many New York productions, . such, . Mary of Scotland (Mary of Scotland, . 1934), . Queen Victoria (Victoria Regina, . 1935), . Twelfth Night (Twelfth Night, . 1940), . In an era of 'the golden age of Broadway' (1920-1950), only Katharine Cornell and Lynn Fontaine could compare with Hayes on the range of roles played. The combination of generosity and cordiality fully manifested in the film version of the play Anastasiya (Anastasia, 1956), where Hayes was a partner Ingrid Bergman
