Biography Geraldine Farrar (Farrar Geraldine)
(1882-1967) Call soprano and striking appearance made her operatic star of the early 1900-ies. Farrar was born Feb. 28, 1882 in Melroze (pc. Mass.). She studied singing Emma Terzbi, traveled to Europe, making his debut in 1901 in Berlin, in Gounod's Faust. In New York, she first appeared on the stage 'Metropolitan Opera' in 1906, in Bellini's Romeo and Juliet. Temnokudraya blue-eyed beauty appeared in the 'Metropolitan Opera' to 1922, gathering a huge audience. The most successful in the work of Farrar were the main roles in the operas Madama Butterfly, Carmen, Manon, Tosca. Often, she appeared in a duet with famed tenor Caruso E.. Farrar appeared in several films, including silent film Carmen (1915). Her autobiography Sweet burden (Such sweet compulsion) published in 1938. In the same year she left the stage. The singer died in Ridzhenfilde (pc. Connecticut), March 11, 1967.
