Biography KORTNER Fritz (Kortner)
Kortner, Fritz (Kortner), German theater actor and director. Born March 12, 1892 in Vienna. Acting, he studied at the Mannheim. In 1911 he moved to Berlin, where he worked in the famous German theater director Max Reinhardt. With a group of young actors Kortner revolted against theatrical techniques Reinhardt, has developed its own form of expressionist ц?ц?цў. Has become well known performance of the roles of Caesar, Richard III, Othello, etc.. After the Nazis came to power, was forced to leave Germany, settled in the United States, which was filmed in the cinema. In 1949 he returned to his homeland, won the huge success of plays "Waiting for Godot" (1954) and "Storm" (1968).
