Biography Laon II
Leon II (758-798). Leon II was eristavom (ruler) of Abkhazia, the north-western province of Georgia. In the second half of VIII century, he took advantage of the weakening of Byzantium, and with the help of the Khazars (Leon's mother was the daughter of the Khazar Kagan) extended its authority throughout the western Georgia and took the title of king. The capital of the kingdom was the city of Kutaisi. Leon shared the kingdom of territorial administrative districts - eristavstva.
