Fontaine (Fontaine), Joan (p. 22. 10. 1917), American actress. Real name - Joan de Beauvoir de Havilland.
Born in Tokyo in English family, sister, actress Olivia de Havilland. She made her debut in film in 1935. Played, as a rule, pure and weak, sometimes naive heroines. The two roles of the plan became known in the films of Alfred Hitchcock's 'Rebecca' (Rebecca, 1940, nomination for 'Oscar') and 'Suspicion' (Suspicion, 1941, award 'Oscar').
