Biography ABREU Caillois Fernando
Caillois Fernando Abreu (Caio Fernando Abreu) was born September 12, 1948 in a small Brazilian town of Porto Alegre. Entering in 1967, the university, Abreu soon left his studies and began work as a journalist.
In 1969, Abreu won Fernando Chinali for collection of short stories "The guns irreparable". From 1971 to 1973 he worked as an editor in magazines and newspapers of Rio de Janeiro.
1973 Abreu holds in Europe, leading wild life hardened hippies, washes dishes in Stockholm, moonlight as a janitor and model in London. Upon returning to Brazil, Abreu worked as an actor, began writing for the theater, working with the alternative press, making fun of censorship. I wrote, receiving a prize for award. He writes mainly short stories and novellas ( "Rocks of Calcutta", "Moldy Strawberries", "black sheep"), as well as novels and plays.
It is likely that in the story "Beauty" is the autobiographical features. A few years before his death in 1994, Abreu returned from Sao Paulo to Porto Alegre, a town where he spent his childhood. The hero of "Beauty" also returned before his death in the mother's house. Like Abreu he is gay and sick AIDS.
Caillois Fernando Abreu died February 25, 1996. In Brazil, the book is very popular Abreu. He is considered one of the most talented contemporary writers of South America
