Eugene Thurman Upshaw Jr. was born on 15 August 1945 in the city Robstaun Texas in the United States of America. After high school, Gene attended the Texas College Kingsvilskom A & T, where he was a member of the Students' Society 'Alpha Psi-Alpha'. This was the first in the history of America's student society for African-Americans.
