Georg Baselitz

Georg Baselitz was born January 23, 1938 in Germany. He is a leading figure in the artistic direction of 'New Wild'. His paintings are currently one of the most prestigious and expensive in modern painting.

Georg Baselitz is a pseudonym for the master, whose real name is Hans-Georg Kern. He was born and raised in the German town Doychbazelits. In 1956 he moved to East Berlin.

Georg from a young age was interested in painting. He studied at the Graduate School of Arts of West Berlin.

From the very first paintings George has developed its own and unique style. In his works can be seen in many different ways, someone called his style is provocative, but someone he predicted a bright future in the field of contemporary art.
