Biography

Bernard Sumner was born on January 4, 1956 in Salford at Manchester. In July 1976 he visited the Manchester concert Sex Pistols, under the impression that he was his school friend - Peter Hook - decided to do music and bought a guitar. When to him in late 1976 joined Ian Curtis, it was decided to organize a group, subsequently named Warsaw and then Joy Division. When Curtis committed suicide in 1980, the remaining band members decided to continue its activities under a new name (New Order). Sumner became a singer and leader of the group. Nevertheless, he had long become accustomed to the role of frontman, especially against the backdrop of unflattering comparisons with the late Curtis. Even the singing Sumner found it difficult - he specifically took vocal lessons repeatedly, the concerts often sung in the wrong key and timbre (in the studio managed to achieve an acceptable sounding voice). Only at the end of the 80-ies. Sumner, by his own admission, has learned to master his voice.

In 1987, Sumner and Johnny Marr of The Smiths began to write songs for himself, apart from their groups. The result was a draft Electronic, which combines house music and indie-rock. According to the Sumner project was a sort of outlet for musicians to enable them to communicate in an easy relaxed atmosphere and to write music that is not related to styling their own groups.
