Biography Barbot-de-Marne Nikolai Pavlovich
(1829 - 77). Higher education in the Mining Institute, served in the Urals, where he participated in a geological expedition Hoffman and Grunewald. In 1861, he was counted among the composition of the Manych expedition. In 1863 he was elected professor of geology at the Mining Institute. In 1864, examined the geological structure of the Perm and Vologda provinces and showed that most of the strata, regarded as Permian, belongs to the Triassic, in 1865 explored the Volyn, Podolia, Kherson province. In 1874, the capture of Khiva, he compiled a remarkable description of the Transcaspian Region. He also owns the geological description of the Astrakhan province. Many of his works published in "Mining Journal," "Memoirs of the Mineralogical Society," Proceedings of the Department of Geology and Mineralogy Society of Naturalists ". These works enjoy an excellent reputation not only in Russia but also abroad.
