Biography BARROS ARANA Diego (Barros Arana Diego)
(1830-1907) Born in Santiago on August 16, 1830. During the first work of history published in 1850, followed by numerous studies on the history of Chile and other countries of the Americas. After a trip to Europe Barros Arana, proposed a plan for complete reorganization of the Chilean education system and has written several textbooks. In 1892 became the rector of the University of Chile in Santiago. Liberal-minded. Major Works - General history of the independence of Chile (Historia general de la independencia de Chile, 1854-1858); Compendium of American history (Compendio de historia de America, 1865) and the General History of Chile (Historia general de Chile, 16 vols, 1884-1902). Barros Arana died in Santiago on Nov. 4, 1907.
