Biography BURZHUI Charles Joseph Paul (Bourget Charles Joseph Paul)
(1852-1935) Born September 2, 1852 in Amiens. For the first time attracted the attention of modern psychology Essays (Essais de psychologie contemporaine, . 1893) and the New sketches of modern psychology (Nouveaux essais de psychologie contemporaine, . 1895), . which laid on Stendhal, . Taine and Renan responsibility for the moral decline and pessimism of his generation, . However, the first of his novels, including gnawing mystery (Cruelle nigme, 1885) and Andre Cornelis (Andr Cornlis, 1887), it was written under the influence of Taine. Bourget broke with Taine already in the novel Pupil (Le Disciple, 1889) - warning of the dangers of materialistic and deterministic views. All of the following books Bourget exposing certain social ills: Cosmopolitanism in Cosmopolis (Cosmopolis, 1893), skipping a few steps of the social ladder in Step (L'tape, 1902), the destruction of families in divorce (Un Divorce, 1904). Bourget has consistently defended Catholic views on society, more directly to his religious views as expressed in the novels of an old fool (Le Dmon du Midi, 1914) and the meaning of death (Le Sens de la mort, 1915). Died Bourget in Paris on Dec. 9, 1935.
