Biography Luca GIORDANO (Giordano Luca)
(1632-1705) Born in Naples in 1632. He studied painting with his father. In 1652, visited Rome, Parma and Venice, where copied works of masters who worked in various styles. Decisive influence on him had a painting by Pietro da Cortona, the master of the mature Baroque. Works of Luca Giordano different free impressionistic style of execution, which found its most spectacular expression in his figures. For speed work, he earned the nickname Fa presto (do it fast). Among the artist's works - frescoes in the Palazzo Medici-Riccardi in Florence (1683-1686), painted sets of stairs to the El Escorial in Madrid (1692-1694), fresco in the sacristy of the cathedral of Toledo (1698) and composition Triumph of Judith in the church of San Martino in Naples ( 1704). Died Luca Giordano, 12 January 1705.
