Biography Pate, Charles (Path Charles)
(1863-1957) Born December 26, 1863 in Chevry-Koshino (Department of the Seine and Marne). In 1866 his family moved to Vincennes, where thirty years later, Charles and his brothers founded the company 'Brothers Pate'. Company engaged in the manufacture phonographs and movies. After the two brothers went out of business, Emil (1860-1937) began to specialize in the phonograph, Charles - in movies. In tricks kinofantazy in the spirit of the inventive G. Mц?liц?s (G. Mlis, 1861-1938), Pathe produced documentaries (catastrophe in Martinique, the Dreyfus affair, the Anglo-Boer War). In 1900 F. Zekk, a leading producer company name, took a fantastic picture of a diver (Fantastic Diver), the hero of which there are rear projection film jumped out of the pool at the springboard diving. In the same year in the film Life of Punchinello (The Life of Polichinelle) appeared M. Linder, who became the main star of the company 'Brothers Pate'.
In 1908, began issuing regular newsreels, and at the same time was a film murder the Duke of Guise (The Assassination of the Duke of Guise), the first Film-drama, which claims to rigorous treatment of the historical facts. In the same 1908 Pate helped produce educational films, the shooting of which were carried out by Dr. J. Komandonom through a microscope. In 1930, Charles Pathц? retired in 1956 his firm was acquired by 'Warner Bros. Pictures'. Pate died in Monte Carlo on Dec. 25, 1957.
