Biography SCHUMANN Clara (Schumann Clara)
(1819-1896) The wife of composer Robert Schumann and the daughter of a famous piano teacher F. Wick. Born in Leipzig, September 13, 1819. Begun giving public concerts at age 10. Around the same time, Robert Schuman became a student of Wieck. His sympathy for Clara, mixed with admiration for its successes, gradually grew into love. September 12, 1840 they were married. Clara always perfectly performed music of her husband and continued to play concerts in the works of Schumann, and after his death. But most of her time was devoted to them eight children, and subsequently the care of Roberts during his depression and mental illness. After the tragic death of Schumann in 1856, Clara had a great help Brahms. Schumann in his time warmly welcomed as the new genius of Brahms' German music, and Clara has supported the view of her husband, performing works by Brahms.
