Biography Benedict (Benedictus Casinensis)
Benedict, Benedictus Casinensis, of Nursi, ca. 480-547 years. n. e., creator of the Latin monastic charter. For information about TB, contained in Gregory the Great are the half-legendary, therefore, very difficult to regain his life. Born in Nursi, education in Rome and lived as a hermit in Subiaco, and after a failed attempt to reform the monastery founded in Vikovaro new at Monte Cassino, for which ca. 529 g. composed the charter, relying on the so-called Regula Magistri and is closely associated with the ancient monastic tradition of the East. Charter that formed the basis of many monastic charters and has had an enormous influence on the development of monasticism in Europe.
