. Born in 1918 in the village now Golovinschino Kamensky District, Penza region in a peasant family. Russian. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1942. Finished 7 classes, worked on the farm. In the Red Army in 1940. He graduated from the Ulyanovsk military pilots flying school in 1940.
On the Great Patriotic War in January 1942. Guard Lieutenant Ratnikov to June 1943 carried out 220 sorties, carried out 85 air battles, shooting down 11 and in person in the group 4 enemy planes.
