Biography PATON Paton
Paton PATON was born in 1870 in Nice (France), the Russian consul in the family, graduated from the Polytechnic Institute in Dresden (Germany). Returning to St. Petersburg-known civil engineer, designer of the Dresden railway station, Paton sat down again on the student's desk. A year later, having passed all the exams and received the diploma of a railway engineer, he became an expert on the construction of railway bridges.
Paton marked the beginning of the Soviet school and bridge construction for outstanding achievements in this field has been elected a member of the Academy of Sciences.
At the 60 th year of life has suddenly decided ... change profession. He became the organizer of the world's first Institute of Electric Welding in Kiev, which now bears his name. In this Paton Institute has developed new methods of design, calculations, and creating welded structures. Faster, cheaper, more reliable steel frames built factory shops, tanks and cars, boilers and vessels, and in the Great Patriotic War - tanks. At the age of 70 he invented a new way of welding under the flux. And today, thousands of kilometers of gas pipelines are welded by the method of Paton.
Paton Paton - was a Soviet engineer and scientist, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of USSR, Hero of Socialist Labor.
Handsome bridge, which bears his name, crossed the Dnieper in Kiev. Throughout this 1150-meter hulk there are no rivets. He welded. In this building - the creation Paton - as it merged the two cases which he devoted his life: bridge engineering and welding. Wonderful creative energy remained scientist all my life. Design of bridges he led when he was already 80 years!
Paton Paton died in 1953.
