Georg Baselitz was born January 23, 1938 in Germany. He is a leading figure in the artistic direction of 'New Wild'. His paintings are currently one of the most prestigious and expensive in modern painting.
Georg Baselitz is a pseudonym for the master, whose real name is Hans-Georg Kern. He was born and raised in the German town Doychbazelits. In 1956 he moved to East Berlin.
Georg from a young age was interested in painting. He studied at the Graduate School of Arts of West Berlin.
From the very first paintings George has developed its own and unique style.
