Among his sources were Ptolemy, Apollinaris, Apollonius Laodikeysky, Hermes Trismegistus. Book of Paul of Alexandria, displacing "Tetrabiblos" Ptolemy, became the main textbook of astrology for several generations of astrologers early Middle Ages. Especially great influence the work of Paul of Alexandria has had on scholars of Byzantium

In 1993, Mr.. Paul of Alexandria textbook was published in English translation under the project "Hindsight" (USA). Russian translation of this edition was published in 1997
