Derek Walcott (Walcott Derek)

Drawing inspiration from his native Caribbean culture and assimilated the legacy of its colonial past, it has become one of the most prominent figures in contemporary poetry. Nobel Prize in Literature 1992.
Born January 23, 1930 in Castries on the island of Saint Lucia. He graduated from the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica (1953), the student began to publish.
