Biography LONG Pietro (Longhi Pietro)
(1702-1785) Born in Venice in 1702. Originally was a master of silver, then enrolled in the study to the Bologna painter Giuseppe Crespi. Returning to Venice in 1732, he unsuccessfully tried to engage in monumental painting, and eventually devoted himself entirely to genre painting. In his paintings marked influence Crespi, but painting style Longhi more subtle, more smooth surface of the painting. His scenes lacked vitality, but they are bright and happy color on. Pictures Longhi, quickly became popular - contemporary artist to illustrate the Venetian life: the scene in salons, boudoir, coffee shops and the like, such as paintings Concert (Venice, Academy Gallery) and Rhino (London, National Gallery). Died Longhi in Venice May 8, 1785.
