Biography Pietro Mascagni (Mascagni Pietro)
(1863-1945) Born Dec. 7, 1863 in Livorno. Director and conductor of itinerant opera companies, . he suffered obscurity and deprivation, one-act opera rusticana (Cavalleria rusticana) suddenly made famous composer - in 1889 she won first prize in, . announced by the Milanese publisher E. Sontsono, . He wrote also belong choral works, film music, opera Nero (Nerone) to plot the historical drama (set in the 'La Scala' in 1935). In 1895-1903 Mascagni was director of the Music Lyceum in Pesaro, in 1909 - the conductor in the Roman theater 'Costanzi' (later the Royal Opera House). Died Mascagni in Rome on Aug. 2, 1945.
