Luciano Pavarotti was born Oct. 12, 1935 on the outskirts of Modena in northern Italy, a son of Fernando Pavarotti - a baker and singer, and Adele Venturi - working factory cigar. Despite the fact that the singer always spoke fondly of his childhood, the family had little money. Four members of the family lived in a two-room dwelling.
