Mikhail Borisovich

Mikhail Borisovich (? -1505) - The last independent Prince of Tver (1461 -1485), son of Grand Prince of Tver Boris Alexandrovich. Unable to resist Moscow, has acted in line with the policy of Ivan III. Tverskoe troops took part in the campaigns of Ivan III in Novgorod (1471, 1477) and 'standing on the Ugra' (1480) against Khan Akhmad. In an effort to free themselves from the growing dependence on Moscow, Mikhail Borisovich concluded (1483) with the Polish king Kazimiroim IV contract, which at the request of Ivan III was revoked. By agreement of 1484 -1485, Mikhail Borisovich acknowledged vassalage Tver principality of Moscow, but continued to secretly communicate with the Casimir. Ivan III besieged Tver, Mikhail Borisovich secretly fled to Lithuania. Tver principality ceased to exist. Attempt of Michael in 1486 with the help of Lithuania regain lost reign was unsuccessful.
